The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

the world鈥檚 leading achievement award for young people

The Duke of Edinburgh鈥檚 Award (DofE) has been successfully running at The 杏吧原创since 2012. The Duke of Edinburgh鈥檚 award is the world鈥檚 leading achievement award for young people.

We believe that a DofE experience has a profound impact on participants by providing them with the chance to develop character, learn skills for work and life and fulfil their potential. The award is also highly valued by Colleges and Employers.

The four sections are:

  • Volunteering: undertaking service to individuals or the community
  • Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness activities
  • Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests
  • Expedition: planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey.

For each section, the student chooses an activity, sets goals that must be measurable by an Assessor, and an individual challenge. There is no such thing as one DofE programme because every young person completing the DofE chooses what they want to do. Once chosen, the student then has to carry out the activity for a minimum of one hour per week over the designated period of time 鈥 three or six months.

If you would like further information about the DofE programme, please contact Mrs Wycherley at lwycherley@earls.dudley.sch.uk.

DofE at The 杏吧原创is generously supported by Friends of The Earls.
